Program ———————————– Heartwood: 1:00 pm http://www.heartwoodmusic.ca/ Genevieve Charbonneau is making up for lost time. A trained actress and dancer and long-time member of the award-winning Balkan Babes musical ensemble, Genevieve only started crafting her songs of love, loss and political mayhem in 2012, in between raising her three sons at their Cowichan Valley homestead. Since then, she has released two CDs of original material, including one with her all-female quintet Genevieve and the Wild Sundays. Her song “Down Down Down” won the 2017 BC Musicians Songwriters Contest and that same year Genevieve was named a finalist for the International Acoustic Music Awards. Jack Connolly has been pushing for musical perfection ever since he released his first album in 2001 at the tender age of 15. Three years later, he was named songwriter of the year at the 2004 Vancouver Island Music Awards. His ever-growing reputation as a gifted songwriter and dynamic performer has won him invitations to play venues across Canada with the likes of Tom Cochrane, Colin James, Spirit of the West, 54-40, Wide Mouth Mason, and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. When not performing, Jack teaches music at Shawnigan Lake School, where he also records and produces at the new recording studio. Lisa Bosman& Sue Hansen: 2:10 pm www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efirr2STlFw www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ukEEXI_mSE Lisa Bosman is a singer/songwriter living on Vancouver Island. She is originally from Virginia, where she took up playing the guitar at 11. She fell into the Theatre while living in California in the 80’s and spent many years performing in musical theatre. Since she moved to Victoria 9 years ago acoustic folk music has been more of her focus. Her major influences are Janis Ian and James Taylor. As a self-taught musician, Sue Hansen has spent much of her life singing and playing music. Born and raised in Vancouver, once out of high school, she created and traveled extensively with bands and trios, sharing her joy of music with audiences throughout BC and periodically across the borders. Sue now chooses a simpler expression, mostly as a soloist, playing memorable songs from the 60s through the 80s, in more intimate venues around home on beautiful Vancouver Island. Anna & Adam: 3:00 pm These two young artists from Sooke are pursuing music for the pure enjoyment. They met only a year ago, but their friendship really took off by realizing their mutual love of playing, singing and performing acoustic pop and collaborating on originals. Bijoux Du Bayou: 4:15 pm www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvNnQ1Fk1I4 Bijoux Du Bayou has been thrilling audiences with their unique style and genres for 21 years now.
