Bio:

Michael Jantzen

Fraser Valley recording artist, Michael Jantzen, carves out his own space between folk and country. With his nuanced baritone and delicate guitar playing, he creates a distinct and inviting brand of roots music infused with personal stories, faith and West Coast imagery. His knack for weaving introspection into poetic narrative and stick-in-your head melodies has a way of getting listeners humming along and musing the meaning of their own journeys.

“Michael’s warmth & authenticity, along with his storytelling skills both as a writer and a performer, makes for an utterly engaging musical experience. I’m a fan!”

 — Shari Ulrich

In 2020, Roads Unknown, the roots band of which he’s a founding member, won the Fraser Valley Music Award (FVMA) for roots group of the year and the Mission City Celebration of the Arts Award for music group of the year. Coinciding with the release of his sophomore solo album, Michael was nominated for the 2021 FVMA in the roots/country category.
