Oscar Street Jazz collective

September 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Oscar Street Jazz Collective (OSJC) began its life, in 2018, as a jam band of musicians interested in exploring and expanding their knowledge of the jazz artform. Unfortunately, Covid stopped all interaction for a period but post Covid, OSJC decided to emerge from the safety of their practice room, in their guitarist home, on Oscar Street, and began slowly morphing into a performance band with various open rehearsals and backyard performances, senior residences, numerous Sooke Folk Society coffee house and Hermann’s open mics. They’ve been given opportunities to perform at the Sooke Music Festival and the VCM Annual Mother’s Day Garden Tour.

At play in the fields of improvisation – Oscar Street Jazz Collective features the musical collaboration of Judith Hunt (piano), David Bellows (guitar), Jessy Biant-McMullan (voice/cajon). Their repertoire, from the American Jazz Songbook, is a vehicle for their melodic and rhythmic improvisational explorations. As a mostly retired trio – stepping out into their second life – looking forward to sharing their musical journey with you.
